Head in a Milk Bottle originated back in 1984, and the first seven issues spanned just a year and a half. By 1986, it was gone. No, our history and rebirth is not quite as grand and glorious as that of, say, Punk Magazine. And no, we never helped launch the careers of any punk forefathers like the Ramones, Blondie or The Dictators. No, HIAMB was just a crappy, crudely thrown together, badly illustrated, mostly handwritten, punk 'zine that covered mostly hardcore punk rock and thrash metal bands of the early- to mid-'80s, just like thousands of other underground punk rags from that time period. But there was one thing that separated HIAMB from the rest of the predictable punk 'zine pack, and that was attitude. Tons of bad attitude that really reeked of LAMF rock 'n' roll. It's that spirit that we're intent on keeping alive with the return of Head in a Milk Bottle, even if our musical tastes have "matured" somewhat and now focus mainly on the real primitive, prototypical forms of punk rock, garage, and other "dick-shakin' music" styles.
